Six Word Bio:
Will write for food. Especially sushi.
As a as broadcast journalist in the Army and later a public affairs specialist in the Air Force, Kristi honed her writing with PSAs, press releases and training newsletters. Despite having no desire to be on camera, she managed to ace her training in television, field journalism, and radio, (thank you good telephone voice!) and with her mentoring efforts, was chosen Distinguished Honor Graduate for her class at the Defense Information School.
Kristi parlayed her new skills into a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, and as the Web took off, all that variety came in handy as she played more and more with website authoring. She jumped into analytics with both feet while the pool was still shallow, and went back to school for her MBA to help make sense of it all.
Online marketing was a natural extension of her work and the field of behavioral analytics became her favorite playground. If you really want to see her geek out, ask Kristi about the latest thing she read on brains, communication, or words (etymology). Even better, share a good TedTalk.
What I am most passionate about in our industry:
I'm most passionate about behavioral marketing. I believe it's critical to understand your target market and what the needs, wants, desires and motivations are for the person you most want to reach. Understanding behavior is the start of a conversation and marketing helps keep the dialogue going, along with feedback. Knowing my customer's problem, limits and goals, lets me show them how I can help - a win-win!
"What's in it for me" - the golden rule of marketing!
Fun fact no one knows about me:
Kristi scored expert in grenades in Army Basic training. Yep, got lucky. On the other hand, she barely passed marksmanship - despite a drill sergeant sneaking extra ammo into the foxhole!
